Pop Stuff

Or whatever my "normal" songs are

Listen Up

Let's just stick it all in the player, shall we? Some of this stuff is twenty years old, some of it never got beyond the demo stage, but for one reason or another I, at one point or another, decided that it was ready to be heard. So be it.

Here are some recommendations based on genre:

Album in Process

It seems like just about every musician/songwriter I know either never gets around to really recording their songs right or they lack the equipment or the talent to record what they hear in their heads. I'm no different. But I'm really giving it a push right now and I've already received help from some gifted guest uncles so we'll just see. Here's a very tentative track listing:

Odds and Ends

Here are some halfway-decent recordings of halfway-decent songs that I'm just not sure if I'll ever do anything more with.

sodium-free

I first got into home recording in the late 1980's when I bought a Fostex 4-track tape recorder for some then-astronomical sum. I put together nine songs with fake (keyboard) drums, bass, horns and strings and released "sodium-free" (all lowercase 'cause I was cool like that) by Albino Joe and the Uncles of Elizabeth. I mean, making up the fake band name is half the fun, right? Anyway, by sending $50, a master cassette and a photo for the cover to some address near Washington DC, I received five copies of the album on CD. I gave two away, framed one and still have the other two.

For all that, I'm not too embarrassed about these songs. A lot of the lyrics are kind of trite but there are some definite keepers in this bunch. I still like "Out of My Mind", "Suzanne" and "Zamboni", among others.
